About us
We count people, so locations can decide.
ProximityFutures counts the people who use a location and turns the count into reports you can act on. We started in Hinckley, Leicestershire in 2014 and now count over 150 locations across the UK.

- Our principle
- Decisions Through Data
Most locations are still run on instinct.
We exist to give locations the data they have never had. Without a count, nobody can see how many people come, when they come, or whether a change made any difference.
Stores, shopping centres, event sites and town centres were managed on gut feel for years because the numbers simply were not there. We build and run the counting that puts them there, then report it in a way people can act on.
We are a small, hands-on team. Most of us have been out on site or deep in the data ourselves, and that is how we like it.
How we work
The same team surveys your site, sets up the sensors and reports the data, so the people you speak to are the people doing the work.
- 01
We survey the site first
Brendan, Project Manager
Before anything is installed we visit the location and agree where the counting points go, so the data answers the questions you actually have.
- 02
We set the sensors up to work first time
Matthew, Technical Lead
Every sensor is configured and tested before it goes up, often on top of a street light in the middle of the night, so counting starts on the day it is installed.
- 03
We make sense of the data
Luke, Chief Operating Officer
Counts become reports by day and hour that show how many people came, when, and what changed, so the next decision rests on evidence.
- 04
We build on what customers tell us
Dan, Regional Sales Director, and Rod, Director
We develop our products around customer feedback. What you ask for goes straight back to the people who design them.
The team
8 people design, sell, install and support everything we do, from the first site survey to the weekly report.
-
Rod
Director
Rod is one of our founders and designs and builds basically everything we do. He loves a challenge, and has a knack for using existing technology in ways it was never designed for.
Outside work he gets walked by his St Bernard, or swaps the laptop for a hammer. In his own words, he just likes building "stuff".
-
Luke
Chief Operating Officer
Luke turns Rod's ideas into working products and makes sense of all the data we generate. He has led major projects at Bright Software Group, Dixons, Next and the Department for Education.
On his days off you'll find him spending time with the family or playing a round of golf all while wishing he lived by the sea so he could be kite surfing.
-
Dan
Regional Sales Director
Dan is a people person who loves meeting customers, new and old. He knows the challenges locations face, and feeds what customers tell him straight back to the tech team.
Away from work he's usually talking about his latest motorbike trip through the Derbyshire Dales.
-
Brendan
Project Manager
Brendan joined as our North East sales manager before moving into his natural role as Project Manager. He carries out every pre-project site survey, so he knows what a job needs before it starts.
Once a project is underway he's the person you'll speak to most, pulling resources and timelines together to deliver it.
-
Matthew
Technical Lead
Matthew sets up and configures all our hardware, so a sensor installed on a street light in the middle of the night works first time. A true techie, he loves getting his hands on the latest kit.
Originally from Norwich, he was convinced by Rod that the Midlands is the place to be. Off screen he's a film buff, a drummer and a recent convert to running.
-
Richard
Director
Richard has run Intalect Ltd, an East Midlands managed IT and cyber security business, for the past 22 years, helping organisations find and fix their security weaknesses before attackers do. He brings that experience, and two decades of running a business, to our board.
Away from work you'll find him on the golf course or the ski slopes.
-
James
Software Developer
James is part of the development team and keeps our systems running. He studied Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering at Loughborough, then swapped race car design for software.
Outside work he rides charity cycling events across the country and is decorating his first house.
-
Paige
Bookkeeper
Paige manages all of our books, keeping the numbers behind the business as carefully as we keep our customers'. She has a Sports Science degree from the University of Sheffield.
Outside work she's busy with her young son and runs her own independent Etsy shop.
